WATER DEMAND CALCULATOR® SUMMIT
Explore how real-world water use data is reshaping water system design
This year's virtual event theme, Reality-Based Design, explores how measured water use data is challenging long-standing assumptions about building demand. The session will highlight recent Water Demand Calculator advancements, new research findings, lessons learned from real-world building performance, and the implications for plumbing engineering, water quality, sustainability, and code development.
As the industry continues to move beyond traditional fixture unit methods, Reality-Based Design focuses on a fundamental question: How can we design plumbing systems based on how buildings actually use water rather than how we assume they use water?
The continuation of the Water Demand Calculator® Summit is an opportunity for plumbing industry professionals to learn how IAPMO has set the bar in right-sizing of plumbing systems, which is part of two American National Standards: the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and the Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard (WE•Stand). IAPMO, along with industry partners the University of Cincinnati and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, was ‘first up’ to the challenge of creating a new water sizing standard approved under the ANSI-accredited development process as Appendix M in the UPC and Appendix C in the WE•Stand, and this summit will showcase how that work continues to evolve.
